VP Becomes Subsidiary for Production of Next-Generation Carbon Nanotubes

Responding to global demand by reinforcing mass production system

“CarbonFly”, a materials venture company engaged in the research, development, manufacture, and sale of next-generation carbon nanotubes (“CNTs”), has acquired shares in Vacuum Products Corporation (“VP”), a company with a proven track record in the development of vacuum equipment, and made VP a consolidated subsidiary. (hereinafter referred to as “VP”), a company with a proven track record in the development of vacuum equipment and other products.

▼Background and Purpose of the Acquisition

CarbonFly has successfully developed a 5-ton class high-performance carbon nanotube manufacturing equipment “Caltema” and has already been approached by several companies to purchase the equipment. In addition, there are several global customers who wish to purchase 100-ton class production equipment, and securing a mass production system for such equipment has become a pressing issue for the company’s management.

Against this backdrop, we have been seeking to further integrate our operations and promote mass production, including a capital tie-up, by forming a business alliance with VP, one of our major suppliers. After reaching an agreement with the chairman of VP on the transfer of shares, we have now acquired the shares and made Caltec a consolidated subsidiary.

With this acquisition, we have established a mass production system to meet customer needs for the introduction of “Caltema,” and we will also begin development of a 100-ton class large-scale production system.

We will do our utmost to further promote the use of carbon nanotubes in society.
